My Story…
Hi! I’m Gbemi, a few years ago, I was just like you—searching for the right path to health and building my dream body, often feeling lost in a sea of conflicting advice. Should I eat more or less? Should I run, do pilates, or lift weights? Should I try that Slim Tea all influencers swear by? I felt overwhelmed and frustrated. But then, something clicked, and my life changed forever.
It all started in 2014 when I decided to document my fitness journey in Dubai, trying to figure out this health thing. I was a broke university student trying all the trends and spending my pocket money on superfoods I was told would make me stick thin because that’s what I thought healthy was.
So, I started blogging and, post by post, I realized there was more to health and fitness than I initially thought. My little corner on the internet quickly gained recognition, and soon I became the first black woman to grace the cover of Women’s Health Middle East. I received numerous accolades along the way, including the prestigious Cosmopolitan Wellness Influencer Award and a spot on the Ahlan Arabia Hot 100 list, multiple years in a row.
But very quickly, I realized it wasn't just about the accolades; it was about finding my path in wellness and helping others find theirs too.
I invested in my education, earned certifications in fitness and nutrition, and dove deep into understanding the science of building a feminine, fit, healthy body.
This journey hasn’t been easy, but it has been transformative. I’ve realized that women need a different approach that supports their unique cycles while still allowing them to lose fat and feel incredibly confident in their bodies.
Along the way, I founded my healthy African restaurant, Catfish DXB, where I took my years of recipe creation and built a kitchen that fed hundreds of people nutritious food daily. I also co-founded DanceBody DXB, where we worked with hundreds of women, helping them build confidence through movement. Building these business ventures allowed me to gain invaluable education and experience working with real women, helping them get results and nourishing their bodies from the inside out.
I went on to join the best-selling LEAN app as a health and strength coach, training tens of thousands of women to build lean, strong and healthy bodies.
